RIYADH – Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, visited the Jeddah Desalination Plant Wednesday evening to personally congratulate the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) workers on their achievement, said SWCC governor Engineer Ali Bin Abdulrahman Al-Hazmi.

The visit proved to be a big encouragement for the workers, he said.

The SWCC Saudi staff made an unprecedented achievement by raising the production capacity from 3.5 million cubic meters to 5 million cubic meters per day during the past two years without an increase in cost, a global record for the desalination industry.

The Corporation has achieved 91 percent Saudization by employing over 10,000 Saudi workers. All the SWCC plants are operating at full production capacity on scientific bases aiming at sustainable water production, Al-Hazmi said.

At the same time, they keep pace with the new technological and digital developments that meet the state’s policies and aspirations. These have contributed to 95 percent of the technical and administrative organizational units winning ISO certificates and the majority of SWCC desalination plants recently obtaining ISO 14001 Certificates for the Environment, he said.
