Victim of excess fluid dose in Taif laid to rest

— Fahd Bin Khaled Bukhari, the 13-year-old boy who died of excessive dose of fluids at King Faisal Medical Complex in Taif, was laid to rest on Sunday, according to local daily Al-Madina on Monday.

The young boy was admitted to the intensive care unit for 48 hours after he had entered into a coma folllowing two liters of fluids he received through intravenous.

The boy was admitted to the hospital for a suspected food poisoning as he was suffering from diarrhea and continuous vomiting.

A large crowd of people attended the funeral prayer for him and followed his body to the graveyard.

Spokesman of the department of health affairs in Taif, Abdul Hadi Al-Rubei, said a medical committee has been constituted to review the procedures followed by the hospital in his case to decide if there was a medical error.

He said the committee had already started revising the medial procedures depending on his medical record.

The spokesman said the case will be referred to the Medical Shariah Committee if a medical error was detected.
