JEDDAH — Silent for weeks, The Synergy International (TSI) roared back into the limelight to claim its third Team of the Week honor, the most of any team, during the 10th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 39th Conference Bowling Tournament at the Sultanah Mall’s Bowling City on Tahlia Street here.
Playing steady bowling, TSI bowlers came through with the top tally of 39 points.
Five points adrift of TSI were the previous week’s honoree Lancy & 3rdy and FGS Bowlers, who tied on 34 points, while host team Bowling City pooled 28 points.
Ekis Reload, a former champion, matched totals with Crime Buster at 26 points followed by Dabarkads (20), Jeraisah (19) and JP Gilas IV (17).
Cash Pinas-Fawri, still to find its groove, ended up next to last on 12 points. Mixed Nuts brought up the rear in the 11-team field on 9 points.
In the individual race, Kemo Felimban of FGS Bowlers won back-to-back men’s Bolwer of the Week awards after shooting the high series of 722. Lance’s Shirley Sagmit won the same award on the women’s side on 645. It was Sagmit’s third BOW plum in the five-man team league event, sponsored by Harvest Coconut Water juice drink which is distributed by Binzagr Co. Marketing Manager Raju Nair facilitated the sponsorship.
Tariq Antonio fired the fourth-best score of 690 and Shams Mustafa backed him up with 632 as TSI breathed down hard on the collective necks of league-leading Lance & 3rdy. Grace Funtilon and Rozana, from the distaff side, carded 582 and 522 for TSI that also drew 168-212 from Wan Kamal Azlan and 184 from Azizan Abdul Aziz.
Besides Shirley, Ric Reformado and Evelyn Santoc went the distance at Lance with respective three-game series of 582 and 555. Contributing two games each were Mhon Laxamana 202-200, Ding dela Rosa 172-184 and Pancho Cuevas 186-180.
The trio of Charrie Guzman, Pinky Acato and Ed Botardo joined Felemban as the players to complete full games at FGS with rounds of 583, 571 and 560. The remaining three games were shared by Nap Patayan 190-201 and Amro Al Amri 210.
Mohd. Al Amri rolled the day’s second highest score of 698 at the vanguard of the Bowling City charge. Eloisa Fernandez and Marie Gumpal added 581 and 512 while contributing two games each were Ryan Cone 214-184, Yasser Hokbi 161-169 and skipper Igna Salgado 176-213.
Zaldy Bacero tallied the third highest score of 697 at the head of an Ekis two-pronged attack that also featured 665 by George Mangaliman. Alma Bacero added 553 to go with the 375 by Farida de Guzman, 200-206 by Emil Payongayong and 202 by Fadi Al Haddad.
