DAMMAM — The Ponnani Welfare Committee (PWC) — Dammam chapter organized a mass Iftar meet as part of their annual gathering for members and well- wishers..
More than hundred people comprising families and children from various parts of the Eastern Province were in attendance.
PWC, one of the oldest charity expatriate organization in the Kingdom began its services in the early 80’s, aims to provide welfare to the Ponnani natives back home and in the Kingdom.
The Iftar gathering was held at a specially arranged venue in Toyota area. All food items were prepared and served by the volunteers.
After breaking the fast, prominent scholar Professor P.T Abdul Rasheed advised the attendees to concentrate on increasing their prayers and supplications in this blessed month.
“Supplication is the brain of worship and submission to Allah Almighty. It is a great privilege to be alive in this holy month and to get an opportunity to draw closer to God,” he said.
He also emphasized the importance of charity and its manyfold benefits.
PWC president V. Aboobacker presided the function and appreciated the efforts of the committee members who not only volunteered to organize the event but made it a success.
General Secretary Hamza Kutty presented the annual report. PWC Al Ahsa President Mohammed Iqbal spoke during the function.
Seethi Sahib recited a few verses from the Qur’an.
Irshad Babu, Kabeer, Abdul Naser, Wadeer, Sabeel, Riyas headed the Iftar meet.
Kunhi Mohammed Kadavanad welcomed the audience and the vice president delivered the vote of thanks.
