JEDDAH — Host team Bowling City found a good enough form to merit a breakthrough Team of the Week award during the 12th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 39th Conference bowling tournament at the Sultanah Mall’s Bowling City on Tahlia Street here.
After securing the first-place points of 11 in the first game, there was no looking back for Bowling City and finished with the top tally of 41 points.
Ekis Reload, a one-time champion, kept pace with the hot hosts and was on 38 points to be second on the day in the five-man team league event sponsored by Harvest Coconut Water juice drink, distributed by Binzagr Co., through Marketing Manager Raju Nair.
Bowling City and Ekis both improved their places a notch in team standings with only Lance & 3rdy standing in the way between them and league leader The Synergy International.
Dabarkads were the other team to breach 30 points with their haul of 31 while Mixed Nuts and JP Gilas IV tallied 28 and 24 points.
TSI Bowlers were average-looking following weeks of top-class bowling in their 22-points result in a tie with Cash Pinas-Fawri.
Jeraisah compiled 19 points while FGS Bowlers, Crime Busters and Lance & 3rdy wound up with 18, 11 and 10 points in that order.
Ekis might have missed team honors but swept the individual awards courtesy of Faisal Relativo and Alma Bacero who drilled highs of 654 and 641 to become the men’s Bowler of the Week and ladies Bowler of the Week respectively.
Bowling City’s rock-solid game had been anchored on the trio of Yasser Hokbi, Ryan Conde and Matet Cavite who rolled 600-series of 632, 627 and 606.
Marie Gumpal just missed the trio’s company on 590, BC team captain Igna Salgado shot 238-175 and Mohd Al-Amri fired a valuable 191.
In addition to Relativo and Alma, Zaldy Bacero did well at Ekis with his effort of 599 that went with the 583 by Malu Relativo and 514 by George Mangaliman.
Dabarkads had Rudy Valenzuela getting his share of the 600s made on the day with 620. Cheryl Tibay and Thess Grandia contributed 573 and 559 from the distaff side. Bing Amolo’s 520 was entered as the other three-game series. Dan Ednabe added 201-203 and Leo Edejer 183.
Aileen Miralbuna surprised everyone when her 604 turned out as the top score at Mixed Nuts followed by Lyn Lopez 582, Med Ramos 558 and Oca Bernabe 543.
