SNAPCHAT is having a tough time because of its recent update, and the Snap Middle East manager keeps justifying their commitment to the update, which is almost universally opposed to maintaining its comparative advantage. The new update allows users to keep close friends in a list of their own away from the list of celebrity accounts or those where only one user is following the other. SnapChat is afraid of losing people's happy snaps and occasions amidst the huge number of celebrity snaps which might impact use of the application negatively, especially as they bet that 60% of the content is made by the users themselves.
The figures in this article are not my assumptions, but were revealed by SnapChat this week in the "Forum of Governmental Communication". The data cannot be analyzed to understand what is going on there.
Saudi Arabia has 25 million users of social networking sites. Last year's growth rate was only 32% (the first in the world). This is a significant figure, adding that Saudi users spend a minimum of two hours and 34 minutes per day on social networking sites.
In 2017, only 1 trillion images were captured through the SnapChat camera, and the total number of "snaps" in the world exceeded 7 years, while the number of snap filters reached 3 billion filters.
As for the reasons why Saudis use SnapChat heavily, the application's Middle East manager said that this is because of its "privacy" compared to the rest of the applications. There are 9 million daily users of SnapChat in the Kingdom, 55% of them women, and 50 % of them ask for personal advice because they trust the privacy of the application; because the application doesn't retain the data and any images or videos disappear in a short period of time.
Surprisingly, according to SnapChat, residents of Riyadh and Jeddah are the most present in this application at an international level. And the Saudis use the camera of SnapChat at an average of 40 times a day, up to 45 times in the month of Ramadan, and spend 35 minutes a day surfing the snaps, 42% of them start their morning browsing, 37% watch it before sleep, and one of the ads in the application was watched 3 million people; 12% responded to the ad and interacted with it, which is a very large number in the advertising world.
Amid all these amazing numbers, imagine that your manager does not realize what that means ?!
