DAMMAM — A couple rejected a court ruling that annulled their marriage citing tribal incompatibility and said they would request the Appeals Court to reconsider their case.

The Court of Appeals in Riyadh upheld a preliminary verdict issued by a lower court in Uyaynah in Riyadh province to forcibly separate the married couple after the family members of the bride filed a lawsuit.

The initial verdict was issued two years ago. The couple have a two-year-old daughter. The couple appealed the lower court verdict in the Appeals Court in Riyadh and had submitted documents in the court in an attempt to prove their tribal compatibility.

The woman had previously filed an adl suit against her father after he refused to allow her to marry her current husband. She won the case as the court allowed the couple to get married.

A few months later, other family members filed a lawsuit against them demanding a forcible divorce on the grounds of tribal inequality between the two.
