RIYADH — The Saudi Royal Air Defense forces intercepted on Friday evening a ballistic missile that targeted the Kingdom. Col. Turki Al-Malki, spokesman of the Saudi-led Coalition forces fighting for legitimacy in Yemen, said in a statement that at around 7.05 p.m., the air defense forces of the Coalition spotted the firing of a ballistic missile by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias from the Yemeni territory of Saada toward the southern city of Jazan.

The missile was fired indiscriminately with the aim of hitting civilian areas. It was successfully intercepted and the debris fell on a residential neighborhood in Jazan city but no casualty or damage was reported, he said.

This was the third day in a row that the Houthi militias had fired missiles toward Jazan.

The Saudi air defense forces had successfully downed on Wednesday two hostile drones over the southern cities of Abha and Jazan and intercepted three ballistic missiles fired toward Riyadh, Najran in addition to Jazan. — SG/SPA
