DAMMAM — The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture will implement the first three projects for improving the quality of drinking water in the Eastern Province.
The ministry will also develop water distribution networks in six cities: Dammam, Al-Qatif, Al-Jubail, Al-Ahsa and Buqaia to end the problem of high saline percentages, Al-Hayat daily reported.
The ministry said interested contractors should submit their bids as per the specifications and conditions which can be found on the ministry’s website.
The first project aims to improve the quality of water in Buqaiq city where a water network and reservoir will be built. The second project aims to improve the quality of drinking water in Al-Khobar where a network and reservoir will be built as well. The third project will improve the quality of drinking water in Al-Jubail.
The ministry will also build large and medium-size reservoirs and pumping stations and install main lines to transport water to the reservoirs and enhance the distribution system.
The ministry’s inspectors will soon start paying visits to all businesses to ensure they comply with the environment laws and bylaws. They will also ensure that the environment in these businesses is safe to staff members and nearby locations in industrial cities.
