IF you haven’t heard of Safia Alaquil yet, go look her up right now! The abayas, clothes, bags and accessories designer, who launched her label 3 years ago, is definitely one to watch after a steady rise in popularity.

When we heard that Safia was opening a store, many were thrilled and seriously impressed. As a young, female designer, Safia has never let the society or the fashion industry hold her back. Her creativity and positive attitude beam through everything she does.

Recently, she opened her first boutique here in Jeddah offering ethnic and traditional designs in front of her proud parents, family relatives, friends, and schoolmates.

The boutique is the latest women’s enterprise set up to offer handmade clothes using natural and organic material. The new outlet was created by Safia to create a unique line of abayas characterized by the original use of ethnic fabric and innovative style tailored with class and elegance.

Speaking at the opening, Safia Alaquil, said the empowerment of Saudi women in all fields, especially economy, is a true translation of the vision and sound directives of Saudi Arabia's wise leadership.

"We really put a lot of effort into this boutique and it has been challenging, but with every obstacle comes a great triumph, and I feel the opening of this boutique is proof of that," she said.

She added: “Every collection is inspired by a different country where handmade textiles are bought personally by me and later incorporated into the clothing line.”

Badawiah’s new shop also includes accessories from around the world collected by Safia, who has studied middle school in Buenos Aires and finished her degree in the University of California.

Humanitarian work is very important part of Safia’s life since a young age, therefore, she has dedicated her sales for donations across the world in Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Argentina, Philippines and recently India.

Since its inception in 2015, Badawiah brand has participated in various exhibitions and pop-ups in Bahrain, UAE, Argentina, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia. It has been also selected one of the finalists during the first Vogue Fashion event held in Saudi Arabia.
