Saudi Gazette report

— Saudi Arabia stands by Morocco in all measures it takes to safeguard its security, stability and territorial integrity, an official source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.

The Saudi government strongly condemns Iranian interference in the Moroccan internal affairs through the terrorist Hezbollah militias that train the so-called Polisario Front to destabilize the security and stability of Morocco, the source said.

The source said that Saudi Arabia reaffirms that it stands by Morocco in all that ensures its security and stability including its decision to sever ties with Iran.

Media analysts said that Morocco’s decision to sever ties with the Iranian regime is a positive step by all standards, which is in conformity with the policies of the Arab and Islamic countries calling for stopping the Iranian sectarian expansion in the Arab region and rejecting its flagrant meddling in Arab and Islamic affairs.

The Moroccan step came at an important time to expose to the whole world the real face of the Iranian regime and prove that it is the supporter of terrorism in the world, apart from its tendentious attempt to divide the Arab ranks and spread the sectarian Iranian scheme in Morocco, the way it took place in Iraq, Yemen and Lebanon, media analysts said.

They called on the international community to exert economic and political pressure in order to stop the Iranian regime from spreading terrorism.

Earlier, Moroccan foreign minister said that Morocco has severed diplomatic ties with Iran over Tehran's support for the Polisario Front.

Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said Iran and its Lebanese Shi'ite ally, Hezbollah, were training and arming Polisario fighters.

"This month Hezbollah sent (surface-to-air) SAM9, SAM11 and Strela missiles to the Polisario with the connivance of Iran’s embassy in Algiers," he told reporters.

Bourita said he had just returned from Iran after informing it of Morocco's decision to sever relations. Rabat's ambassador has already returned home and Iran's charge d'affaires will be expelled on Tuesday with immediate effect, he said.
