RIYADH — Finland has offered its expertise in several sectors that will support Saudi Arabia in achieving its goals set in the Vision 2030.

“Finland is one of the most innovative countries. We are also known for our high quality of life, outstanding education system and excellent public health care. We are also top of the class in information and communication technology and bio economy solutions,” Petri Peltonen, Finland’s deputy minister of economic affairs and employment, has said.

Peltonen was in Riyadh for the 2nd joint Saudi-Finnish economic committee meeting.

He was accompanied by a large official and business delegation. Among the delegates were representatives from a number of Finnish companies in the fields of health and well-being, bio economy and clean tech, education, energy, IT and mining. Representatives of four Finnish ministries and the Finnish Chamber of Commerce were also part of the delegation.

During the visit the delegation attended meetings at the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and SAGIA among others. The joint committee was chaired by the Saudi Deputy Minister Abdul Rahman Al-Harbi and Peltonen.

Saudi Arabia and Finland have good bilateral relations, and Finland can offer its expertise on multiple sectors that will also support Saudi Arabia in achieving its goals set in the Vision 2030. The trade exports in products from Finland to Saudi Arabia grew to 300 million euros in 2017, but the importance of services is increasing.

“I am happy with the results of the good meeting and I am looking forward to welcoming the Saudi delegation in Finland a year from now,” Peltonen said.
