MADINAH — The Ministry of Justice has launched an initiative name "Mobile Notary Public" in Madinah. It is aimed at completing documentation processes such as power of attorney and to serve the elderly, sick, specific groups of people with special needs, guests of shelter homes and others. The service facilitates legal services for these groups of people as the initiative comes from the Ministry of Justice as part of the National Transition Program 2020, Al-Watan reported.

The initiative was launched in the city of Riyadh prior to being introduced in various regions of the Kingdom gradually, targeting the community groups which are unable to access notary public services. The ministry called for creating a system to receiving service requests in mobile notaries in line with the latest technologies to deliver the requested service through smartphone applications. Currently, an application for service requests to the notary public is being designed which includes the person's location, time of visit, and time required for completing the services.

The ministry intends to allocate more than 200 notaries in various regions of the Kingdom to activate the Mobile Notary Public initiative over the next five years. It also took into account the distribution of the notary public to review reports of relevant authorities on the need of each region.

The "Mobile Notary Public" initiative is in support of the ministry's objectives in the National Transition Program 2020, which aims at raising the competency of judicial services and facilitating the needs of people as per the Kingdom's Vision 2030 as a methodology and a plan for economic development in the country. The ministry's new initiatives are part of the first phase of the National Transition Program 2020, which is currently being implemented in partnership with the Council of Economic and Development Affairs and 18 government agencies. It includes 755 initiatives in various economic, developmental and social fields that are expected to contribute to the digital transformation of the Kingdom, create jobs and promote local talents.
