9 Middle East countries show high progress to digital transformation

DUBAI — ‘By 2025 everything in the world will be connected and intelligent,’ according to the Global Industry Vision (GIV) 2025 report that was presented by Huawei during the annual SAMENA Summit that was held in Dubai last week.

During the one-day summit under the theme “Building the Digital Economy of the Middle East,” Huawei talked about the impact of the 5G ecosystem program on the Middle East.

The company organized three sub-forums at the event. The company talked about the challenges and opportunities on the road to 5G, and cloud transformation in the 5G era.

It was observed during the sub-forums that several countries in the region shown high progress when its come to digital transformation.

The company presented a study titled ‘The Global Connectivity Index (GCI),’ which included 80 countries globally. Around nine countries from the Middle East were part of the study, including Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

The study examined how each is progressing in its digital transformation based on 40 unique indicators that cover five technology enablers: broadband, data centers, cloud, big data and Internet of Things.

The study showed that UAE ranking highest among Middle Eastern countries, followed by Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Oman, all placed in the “adopters” category in the report.

In SAMENA summit, which is the fifth annual Telecom Leaders’ Summit in Dubai last May 3, Huawei had the opportunity to launch its 5G ecosystem, and with this new technology the company is aiming to bring the digital experience to every individual, business, and home and make it a practical reality. The company also showcase its latest 5G E2E solutions, launched the “Middle East first Multitenant IoT Hosting Center” and introduced its 5G Ecosystem Program in the Middle East.

Visitors to the Huawei area in the event had the chance to know more about its new technologies and one of the innovations was CG Cloud VR. With this new technology, one of the company’s aims is to make CG VR, the first high value device of enhanced mobile broadband everywhere.

During the summit it was mentioned that Huawei is planning to launch the first 5G Mobile by next year. The company also presented Huawei P20 Pro Mobile and other new innovations and devices.

One of the special features of P20 Pro is that this device has the first Leica triple camera and 5x hybrid zoom. This device would be a perfect choice for professional photographers.
