Mubeen elected OUAAR new head

RIYADH — Osmania University Alumni Association Riyadh (OUAAR) elected their second president recently and the office-bearers. The Patron of OUAAR Engr. Abdul Hameed declared Mohammed Mubeen as the president and the newly elected office bearers for the year 2018-2020,

These new office bearers took charge in a colorful Installation ceremony held at Paradise Restaurant in the presence of a large number of Alumnae, social and cultural associations heads witnessed at the Installation ceremony

Mubeen, an engineer working here for more than two decades, leads the new team of Mohammed Farooqui Shabaz, vice president admin, P. Venu Madhav, social and cultural, Taqiuddin Mir Fazal, general secretary, Syed Ateeq Ahmed, joint secretary, membership, Suhail Siddiqui, joint secretary, education, Mohammed Kaleem, treasurer, Aslam Khan, IT In charge, Sultan Mazharuddin, Dr. Mujeeb Khan and Mohammed Rizwan Pasha — executive members.

Speaking at the function, Mubeen thanked OUAAR for electing him as president and affirmed his commitment for the welfare and development of Osmanians in Riyadh. Mubeen said, “OUAAR is ready to support any organization that is working to uplift the Indian community in Saudi Arabia, and urged the new team to support him to serve.”

He pledged to carry forward the legacy of Hyderabad’s culture, while taking charge from his predecessor Mohammed Quaiser.

Mubeen pointed out that a single head cannot do anything and urged the team members to support him wholeheartedly in furthering the group’s mission. He sought the support of OUAAR patrons and experienced stalwarts of the society while affirming to carry forward the legacy of Osmanians and Hyderabadi tehzeeb.

Earlier, outgoing president Quaiser presented the report card of the association activities during his tenure and, said that OUAAR organized many programs, including information about the NEET examination, birthday of Abul Kalam Azad, taking part at Janadriya Festival and many more.

Chief Guest Dr. Hifzur Rahman Azmi, first secretary at the Indian Embassy, congratulated the new team and said, “OUAAR is always ready to assist the Indian Embassy to organize many events and I hope this will continue with the new team.”

He also commended the establishment for organizing an yearly event to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Abul Kalam Azad by OUAAR. He assured the possible cooperation whenever required by the Embassy in serving the Indian community to OUAAR.

Rahman presented the certificates of appreciation to the OUAAR outgoing team. Also, on this occasion, the special edition of Shagufa was released by the Chief Guest, senior journalist K.N. Wasif and other members on the dais. An Urdu monthly had published a special issue on life and contribution of Architect Abdul Rahman Saleem, former patron OUAAR who left Saudi Arabia after four decades.

Wasif conducted a short segment of “Lateefa-Goyee” in which many personalities Dr. Ozair Ghazi, Zaigham Khan, Syed Viquaruddin and others participated. Taqiuddin Mir Fazal, general secretary/ also spoke on this occasion Mohammed Farooqui Shabaz conducted the proceedings.

The program began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Hafez Abdul Wasay and ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Syed Ateeq Ahmed.

Osmania University based in Hyderabad, Telangana is named after its founder, Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. Osmania University, established in 1918, is the seventh oldest in India, the third oldest in south India and the first to be established in the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad.

Throughout its existence of over a century, it has shown remarkable progress and sustained an integrated development of all faculties. It has significantly contributed to the academic and economic development of not only the region but also the country. Its Alumni have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally in various spheres of life and are spread far and wide around the world.
