JEDDAH — Athr Gallery brings together various flavors of art immersed in calligraphy, architecture and jewelry collection this month. 



“Strokes In Dialogue” in collaboration with Agial Art Gallery and Pearl Lam Gallery brought renowned calligraphers Wang Dongling and Samir Sayegh for a live calligraphy performance on Tuesday. The exhibit runs from July 24 till September 10.



According to Athr Gallery, Different Strokes sees the gallery again position itself as one of the Gulf’s most progressive and exciting art spaces, searching out combinations of historical and contemporary forms in artistic expression.



Parallel Lines is a group exhibition that kicked off Tuesday along with Bokja, a furniture exhibition, and Bilarabi, a jewellery exhibition by Nadine Kanso.



Parallel Lines is showcasing work of three young Saudi artists: Dana Awartani, Basmah Felemban and Abdulaziz Al Rasheedi.



The exhibit will present a range of art forms of calligraphy, sculpture and Islamic geometry.



According to Athr gallery, it is the first time these artists will come together in a space “bringing together elements inspired by their faith, translated onto paper and into sculptures.”



Both exhibits start Wednesday and will go on  until September 10. Athr Gallery will present a selection of work from the “Migration” series from Lebanese design and craft studio Bokja, which is a reference to the fast-paced lifestyle. The furniture pieces reportedly embody hopes and dreams, depicted in careful assemblage and intricate embroideries.



“Muthakarat Al Hurouf” is a reading session by Samir Sayegh that will takes place for an hour Wednesday.



“The Way of Calligraphy” will follow the reading hour until 1 am on the same night. Wang Dongling will be conducting the workshop, and you can register by emailing [email protected]



An Introduction to “Kufi Calligraphy,” a workshop by Nasser Al Salem for kids aged between 10 - 14 will take place Thursday, July 25 from 1.00 PM to 4.00 PM. Registrations can be done by emailing them at [email protected]

The exhibition focuses on tying tradition with modern times, faith and art, expression and purpose.



In another statement revealed by Athr Gallery, the Ramadan Nights aim to combine traditional calligraphy and illumination with contemporary art, jewelry and furniture.



“Athr Gallery places itself as an entity beyond being a commercial gallery, but a cultural center that brings together different talents from across the region and globe.”
