RIYADH — The International federation of football (FIFA) has chosen Sami Bin Abdullah Al-Jaber of Al-Hilal Club, Riyadh, as a member of a panel to select the best player, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported Wednesday.

The 13-member Stars' Panel chosen by FIFA, headed by Gianni Infantino, included Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, Carlos Pereira, Fabio Capello, Kaka and Didier Drogba.

The FIFA has announced amendments to the list of candidates for the World Player of the Year Award, to include only 10 players instead of 23, while the vote will take place between July 23 to August 10, and the official announcement of the winner will be on Sept. 24, in London.

Al-Jaber has previously captained the national team in two editions of the World Cup, and was the only one who represented Saudi Arabia, in four World Cups — 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006 — scoring 3 goals, in the three different editions of the championship. — SPA
