TABUK — Saudi scholarship student Mohannad Al-Reyes died in a road accident in the US on Sunday, family sources confirmed.
Al-Reyes was originally from Haql governorate north of Tabuk. The 27-year-old died when his motorcycle crashed into a car in Richmond, Madison, in Kentucky State.
Al-Reyes was supposed to graduate next month. His family was devastated with the news of his death. They are waiting for the authorities to bring home the body for burial in Haql.
Richmond Police said the dead Saudi student was a volunteer firefighter. He was taken to hospital after the accident but his injuries were too severe.
According to friends and colleagues, Al-Reyes was loved by everyone and he wanted to return to the Kingdom by the end of this year to join the Civil Defense force.
Lt. Zack Evans said even though Al-Reyes was a foreigner he stood by the US by serving as a volunteer firefighter.
