Riyadh — A Riyadh-based fashion designer and a graduate from Princess Nourah University is geared up to launch an app to help Saudi women buy and order Arab designer clothes through their mobile phones.
Ahad Al Otaibi, 25, wanted to create something new and different to promote and support Arab designers.
“My hobbies include reading, painting and following up on everything new in the world of fashion. I try to learn new courses related to technology and fashion. My aim is to merge the two in this app which I call Arab Designers,” said Ahad.
She said the app ‘Arab Designers’ will include all types of fashion for women, perfumes, and paintings designed by Arabs.
“Many fashion designers from some Gulf and other Arab countries have joined us. Participants are selected by a committee which evaluates the work based on quality and accuracy,” Ahad said.
“As part of our commitment to support and assist young Saudi fashion designers who cannot support themselves, the app’s committee will visit local universities in various parts of the Kingdome to select promising female designers to offer them our platform to showcase their products for free,” she added.
The app will help open new horizons for Saudi women and promote their talent.
Talented designers will be able to launch their products through this app without any cost.
“We wanted to create the best content for an Arab audience in general and Saudis in particular,” said Nafla Al-Otaibi, another fashion designer and member of the committee.
“Saudi fashion designers have never truly been explored on a large scale in the digital space. So, we hope through this new app to bridge this gap for our fashion designers,” she added.
The app can be downloaded through the app store free of charge and is accessible to all interested groups at affordable price, according to Ahad Al-Otaibi.
