Health Ministry: Vaccination compulsory for people wishing to perform Haj

RIYADH —
The Ministry of Health has stressed that those wishing to perform Haj this year (1439H) from within the Kingdom and abroad have to compulsorily take the meningitis and seasonal flu vaccines, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said Thursday night.

The ministry added, “Pilgrims from abroad must comply with the other health conditions specified for each country.” It advised them to consult their doctor with regard to the last time they took the meningitis and seasonal flu vaccines.

The ministry reaffirmed the importance of complying with the health conditions that ought to be met by those coming to the Kingdom for Umrah or Haj, as per the circulars sent to the Kingdom’s embassies and representation offices abroad, according to which Umrah and Haj visas are granted this year.

The Ministry of Health said it is following closely the epidemical developments of diseases and is monitoring the developments of diseases at the global and national levels.

In this connection, the Command and Control Center in the ministry is monitoring and following the international and local health situation and revising these conditions if and when necessary.
