AL-MAHRA — Yemeni President Abdrabbo Mansour Hadi, accompanied by the Saudi ambassador to Yemen and Supervisor of the Saudi Program for Yemen’s Reconstruction Muhammad Bin Said Al-Jaber, laid the foundation stone for eight new developmental projects worth $133 million in the Al-Mahra governorate, south of Yemen.
Hadi, after laying the foundation stone, stressed the importance of the many development projects in various fields, including education and services, within the Development and Reconstruction Program. The projects also include the fields of infrastructure, basic services, development, stimulating the economy and creating job opportunities. “Hence, they deal with all the high priority and important sectors in the citizen’s life in Yemen,” Hadi said.
He said that all these show the sincere fraternal spirit that the Kingdom views its brethren in Yemen.
President Hadi expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for the generous support and stances that all Yemenis will never forget. He also expressed gratitude to Al-Jaber for his tireless efforts.
Hadi stressed that it is the Kingdom that always takes the lead in everything in Yemen.
Meanwhile, Al-Jaber said the projects in Al-Mahra include Al-Mahra University comprising several faculties, King Salman Medical and Educational City, Al-Mahra Hospital with 200 beds in the initial stage, renovation of Nashtoun Port, Al-Ghaidhah Airport, expansion and renovation of Al- Ghaidhah water utilities, and providing electricity to the whole governorate, among others.
He added that the Kingdom and the Coalition aim to expedite humanitarian, relief and developmental work in Yemen and get rid of all that threatens the country and its people as well as meet all the challenges.
Al-Jaber stressed that the Kingdom is striving to restore hope to the Yemeni people via projects that fulfill the people’s needs, amid the continuous efforts aimed to restore security and stability and combat terror in all the governorates.
The Arab Coalition in Yemen announced, at the beginning of this year, $1.5 billion in aid to Yemen, which followed Saudi Arabia’s $2 billion monetary aid to Yemen’s central bank to help the country’s currency earlier this year.
