KSA stops all scholarship programs with Canada

JEDDAH — The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has stopped all the scholarship, training and fellowship programs to Canada. The Saudi scholarship students there will be transferred to other countries.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Education Mubarak Al-Ossaimi confirmed that the ministry is working on preparing and carrying out an urgent plan for facilitating the transfer of Saudi scholarship students to other countries.

Sources say the USA is the most likely destination for Saudi scholarship students in Canada.

Informed sources disclosed to Okaz that the Ministry of Education is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other related authorities to prepare an urgent plan to transfer all the Saudi students in the various programs to other countries.

The sources stressed that none of the Saudi students will remain in Canada during the 1439H (2018) summer.

According to official statistics, 8,076 Saudi scholarship students are studying in Canada, with doctors forming the biggest percentage. They are accompanied by 6,508 dependents.
