49,934 Saudis, 22,559 expats died in KSA in 2017

— As many as 72,533 Saudis and expatriates died and were buried in the Kingdom during 2017, Al-Watan Arabic daily said on Tuesday quoting figures from the General Authority for Statistics (GaStat).

The statistics said a total of 49,934 Saudis, representing about 69 percent of the total, died and were buried in cemeteries in various regions of the country. They consisted of 31,175 (62 percent) men and 18,759 women (31 percent).

The statistics said the number of non-Saudis who died and were buried in the Kingdom was 22,599, consisting of 15,030 men (66.5 percent) and 7,569 women (33.5 percent).

As many as 15,840 of the deaths were among children aged less than a year while 4,453 were aged one year to 15 years. The number of deaths in the age group of 15-54 years was 12,191 while 11,582 deaths were among people aged between 45 and 60 years and 27,579 deaths were among people above 60 years of age.

According to the statistics, 21,487 Saudis and non-Saudis died in Makkah, 19,373 in Riyadh, 7,877 in the Eastern Province, 7,475 in Madinah, 3,505 in Qassim, 3,266 in Tabuk, 2,418 in Hail, 1,895 in Asir, 1,654 in Al-Jouf, 1,342 in Jazan, 1,135 in Najran, 1,068 in the Northern Border Province and 238 in Baha.
