Supreme Court: Sunday is 1st of Dhul Hijjah

RIYADH – The Supreme Court, presided over by Sheikh Ghihab Bin Muhammad Al-Ghihab, the court's president, held a meeting on Saturday evening to verify the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent.

It received reports from several courts and sighting committees in a number of regions of the Kingdom, Saudi Press Agency said.

The Supreme Court then decided that Sunday is the 1st of Dhul Hijjah 1439H, as the court confirmed the crescent was sighted by several people.

The Standing in Arafat will be on Monday corresponding to Aug. 20 and Eid Al-Adha will be on Tuesday corresponding to Aug. 21.
