DAMMAM
— Prince Saud Bin Naif, emir of the Eastern Province, has ordered a committee to investigate the fire that engulfed the Public Prosecution building in Dammam on Sunday afternoon.

The committee will comprise officials representing all concerned agencies in the region.

No one was hurt in the fire, according to preliminary reports.

The devastating fire broke from the terrace of the 10-storey building with twin towers located at Al-Dubab district on Dammam-Jubail Expressway.

Sheikh Mansour Aneeq, chairman of the Public Prosecution in the Eastern Province, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the fire spread to lower floors and soon engulfed the entire building.

There were no casualties in the fire as it broke out at a time when the office hour was over.

Aneeq said all firefighting teams from the Civil Defense and the Red Crescent in the region took part in extinguishing the fire and rescue operations.

The Civil Defense teams were assisted by a helicopter also.

According to eyewitnesses, huge plumes of smoke billowing from the building blanketed the neighboring areas.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Prosecutor Saud Al-Moajab inspected on Sunday evening the Dammam branch building that suffered extensive damage in the fire. He said that the branch office and its circuits will resume work at another building on Monday.

A Public Prosecution source confirmed that the fire in the building did not cause any human or data losses.

The electronic system automatically saves copies of all documents and data, the source said, adding that no criminal act was suspected in the fire that broke out following a technical fault at the air-conditioning system installed on the upper-story of the building.
