JEDDAH
— After Casadores II, it was RTJ Baguio Transient House’s turn to make noise when it scored the first perfect 40 points on way to its breakthrough Vertex Solutions Team of the Week title during the eighth session in the OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) Friday Afternoon League Season 9 at the Iceland Bowling Center.

The 40 that Casadores II narrowly missed on the fifth week fell in the hands of Rudy T. Jamon-managed and Joel Nidoy-captained team, which swept the first-place points of 10 for the three games and overall output.

Such was Baguio Transient House’s superlative display that the second-best team, Crime Busters, was five points adrift at 35, followed by NC Fantastic Bowlers 32.

Casadores had its three-week winning streak ended while finishing fourth on the day with 27 points. Spareshots and D’Splinters followed on 23 and 21. Spare Busters were five points further back on 16. Forever Living Dynamics avoided the cellar this time on 11.5 to SGH Bowling Group’s 10 points.

In the individual Vertex Bowler of the Week race, Crime Busters’ Jhun Ejanda and Fantastic’s Aisah Silabay grabbed the honors on 621 and 524, respectively.

In dominating the session in wire-to-wire fashion RTJ won by margins of 13, 11 and 20 pins over its nearest pursuer in the first, second and third games, with Rico Bulalayao leading the charge on 604.

Rico’s wife Darlene and Jack Jarin added 520 and 512 in support while Cesar Pagtalunan and Joel Nidoy contributed 474.

Despite that 621 by Ejanda Crime Busters could not make a dent against RTJ with Samuel Tesfai the only other player to hit past 500 on 524. Vilma Miranda came through with 489, Lito delos Reyes made 475, while Mildred Tolentino and Ryan Latigo registered 285 and 170, respectively.

Fantastic, which had been solid these weeks, drew 518 and 504 from Dawood Antonio and Nap Patayan to back up Silabay’s 621 effort. The other scorers in the five-man team rotation were Jess David with 506 and Sharmaine Patayan with 458.

League-leading and defending champion Casadores got a lift from Edilberto Labuac (511) and Ehd Cordova (502) with Rodel Tacson (496), Tope Sayson (495) and Fatima Jintarat (477).

Spareshots, largely unheard of after clinching Week 2 honors with a near-perfect 39, had 511 and 509 from Jose Antonio Bayag Jr. and Carmen Duma to go with the 491 by Edwin Agustin, 473 by Alex Duma and 400 by Sergio Modar.

D’Splinters picked up fairly decent numbers from Richard Junio (521) and Randy del Remedios (508), with Imelda Flores (476), Andrew Ociones (440) and Susan Mercado (435).

Osman de Guzman and Jaime Flores paced Spare Busters on 515 and 492 in the five-man team league event sponsored by Vertex Solutions headed by Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Harthi and Dia Jamal Eddin.

Team standings (Week 8): 1. Casadores II 264.5, 2. Crime Busters 253, 3. Spareshots 225.5, 4. RTJ Baguio Transient House 214.5, 5. NC Fantastic Bowlers 211, 6. D’ Splinters 180, 7. SGH Bowling Group 170.5, 8. Spare Bustrrs 123, 9. Forever Living Dynamics 79.5, 10. Forever Living 38.5.
