RIYADH — SABIC and the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Prisons, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Jeddah on Sept. 11 to conduct research and develop technologies in crime prevention.
Signed in the presence of Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif, Minister of Interior, and Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh Aljarbou, SABIC Chairman, the MoU seeks to encourage local content in line with the objectives of the National Transformation Program 2020 and Saudi Vision 2030.
Dr. Talaat Al Dhafer, SABIC Vice President, KSA and MEAF, and Gen. Mohammad Bin Ali Al Asmari, General Director of Prisons, signed the agreement at the General Administration of Jeddah Prison.
Following the signing ceremony, Aljarbou said ever since its inception, SABIC has been maintaining a strategic balance between its business operations and its national and social commitments. It continues to support Saudi Arabia’s vision and invest in social responsibility programs.
Aljarbou further praised the efforts of Prince Abdulaziz in combating crime and preserving Saudi Arabia’s security, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense.
Commenting on the MoU, Yousef Al-Benyan, SABIC Vice Chairman and CEO, said "the MoU is a further step in our outstanding record in social responsibility. SABIC continues to fulfill its responsibilities towards the nation and invest in community programs and initiatives that have exceeded SR3 billion over the last 15 years.”
The MoU is part SABIC's CSR strategy that lays specific emphasis on environmental protection, water and sustainable agriculture, science & technology education, and health & wellness.
