The metro system is expected to become operational in 2019.Skills development and job opportunities through vocational educationSiemens, Colleges of Excellence and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) have jointly pioneered a vocational education concept that is modeled around the German dual education system. Consequently, a total of 40 Saudi Arabian students are being trained at the Saudi Railway Polytechnic to become Rail Technicians. A further 24 students, the majority of whom are women, are receiving Business Administration training. Their curricula combines theoretical and practical aspects in a way that prepares young talent for the workplace of the future. In partnership with the MiSK Foundation, international internships for youth Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the MiSK Global Forum in 2017, the MiSK Foundation and Siemens expanded their internship program for Saudi Arabian university students, who interned at Siemens sites in the USA, Germany and the UK. A total of 23 engineering and business administration students recently returned from their 10-week internships at Siemens energy and industrial businesses abroad.
