JEDDAH
— Popular Saudi actor and comedian Muhammad Bin Rafeah died in a traffic accident in the northern Saudi city of Hail Sunday evening.

Saudis expressed shock on social media over the comedian’s sudden death.

A stand-up comedian in the comedy club, Rafeah was also a writer, composer and a social media celebrity. He snapped “good morning” to his followers from Hail that day.

It was reported that hours before the accident, Rafeah recorded himself with a driver inside a 1984 model Land Rover. Many people on social media speculated that this car was the reason behind his death since he uploaded the video and wrote under it, “The car has no brakes or a safety belt.”

Rafeah’s brother was one of the first people who announced the news of his death.

“Mohamed Left. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return,” he said in a message.

In less than an hour, the news spread via social media.

His name became a trending hashtag and many of his friends and followers expressed their grief by posting his pictures and praying for him to rest in peace.

Rafeah appeared in several advertisements and he was also part of the television series Iftah Ya Simsim (Open Sesame). He also acted in several YouTube videos and was known for making people laugh.
