Indian schools join Scout Masters & Guides meet in Bangalore

DAMMAM — Bharat Scouts & Guides (BS&G) Saudi Arabia, District Unit – II organized a seven days training program for the Scout Masters & Guides Captains from the Indian Schools in the Kingdom. The program was organized recently at Dr. Annie Besant Scout Training Camp, Doddaballapura near Bangalore. During these seven days, 37 participants were divided into four categories and they underwent training for Scout Masters & Guides Captains Basic & Advanced courses.

Chinaswamy Reddy, the State General Secretary of BS&G, Karnataka was the Camp Director and the leader trainer for the courses. Other leader trainers like Srinivasan, Geetha Natarajan, and Arunabala also actively participated in giving intensive training during the program. There was a well-laid training plan starting from early morning 5.00 a.m. till evening 10.00 p.m. every day.

The projects executed really gave practical knowledge in different safety measures, disaster management and utilizing the youth power for the social and community development. Other sections like, first aid, minor games, major games, notes, camp fire, hiking, trekking etc., were so exciting and informative for the participants. Hiking to the nearby villages, visiting village schools etc., gave the real picture of harmonious and cooperative life lived by the people in the villages in India without any caste, creed or religious differences. During hiking the scouts were given overnight shelter in a temple with all the basic facilities required.

Mohammad Ali Khalid, the National Commissioner for Scouts NHQ, visited the camp and appreciated the sincere efforts of the campers for improving the BS&G activities in Saudi Arabia. The trainers were all appreciative of the enthusiasm, eagerness, sincerity and the quick understanding of the participants from Saudi Arabia.

The valedictory function was attended by P.G R. Sindhiya, former Home Minister of Karnataka and the present president of BS&G Association, Karnataka State. He presented special badges and scarfs to all the Scout Masters & Guides Captains and conveyed his sincere appreciation and support for the scouts and guides activities in Indian Schools in Saudi Arabia. The District Chief Commissioner, KSA Dist. Unit - II, Dr. Mohammed Shaffe, head of institution of International School Dammam, welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and gave a brief report on the BS&G activities in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Syed Hameed, principal IIS Jubail, the training commissioner, KSA District Unit – II, proposed the vote of thanks to the chief guest and other officials and the trainers from Karnataka State Scouts association.

Dr. Syed Hameed, Sajjad and Mohan Raj from the Kingdom also helped the trainers in organizing various activities in the camp. All the participants in the training camp expressed their sincere feelings that it was a great and different experience in life, which shall be shared with the students back in Saudi Arabia. — SG
