How we react to threats

TO stand firm in situations where a person is targeted is something normal. In fact this is how it is supposed to be, whether the threat is on an individual level or country level.

Over the past few days, the international media was circulating news that could not be believed and not based on any reliable sources. The lies continued to change according to the individual who was lying. On the other hand, heads of Western countries began threatening to impose sanctions on Saudi Arabia. They based their threats on speculations contained in newspaper reports that came out from people who were seeking to harm the Kingdom. These countries jumped into conclusion and based their threats on the results they generated from these speculations.

In a strange move, these countries lined up with their organizations and companies, each one of them launching their own threat on Saudi Arabia. Those searching for the truth did not want to wait until the official committee that was appointed to investigate what happened and issue their final statement. The whole world with all its media agencies should have waited until the truth is revealed.

Sadly, many of them decided to stand against us as enemies. These media organs got bold when they did not get any answer from Saudi Arabia and started to fabricate more lies. Many of them looked at Saudi Arabia’s silence on the issue as an admission of guilt. But when Saudi Arabia finally spoke, it said it is a country that does not accept any threat and any action imposed on the country’s national interests will be met with a greater reaction. This was the ideal and logical response. However, media targeting Saudi Arabia viewed this response as a challenge. How do they expect a country that is protecting its sovereignty to respond?

No matter what the situations are, the language in which we use to protect our dignity should be strong. No matter how strong the media campaign against our country, we will remain steadfast and we will not give up to threats or to be held accountable for an incident that is still under investigation. Saudi Arabia denied all those lies and refuted them. Any response to an incident should be based on the results of investigations and not on lies.
