JEDDAH — The National Water Company reduced the demand on water trucks in Jeddah by 20 percent, Al-Watan newspaper reported.

The company is in its second phase of improving water pumping and distribution and enhancing the operational process.

Jeddah Businesses Unit Director Mohammad Al-Zahrani said the company improved the infrastructure of the water network and extended it to pump 100,000 cubic meters of water a day.

“The project aims to improve supply to 43 percent of neighborhoods in Jeddah. With an extended water network, there will be less demand on water tankers while the supply will be quicker. The project includes meeting the shortage in Al-Hamdaniyah, Al-Rubban, Al-Rahmaniyah and Al-Falah districts,” said Al-Zahrani.

He added that the project will enhance the water network in 30 neighborhoods: Al-Basateen, Al-Mujran, North Obhur, South Obhur, Al-Naseem, Al-Wuroud, Al-Fayhaa, Al-Samer, Al-Manar, Al-Thaalibah, Al-Qurayyat, Al-Misfah, Al-Nuzlah Al-Yamaniyah, Al-Nuzlah Al-Sharqiyah, Al-Kandarah, Al-Sahifah, Al-Amariyah, Al-Ajaweed, Al-Muntazahat, Ghulail, Al-Sanabil, Al-Sabeel, Al-Hindawiyah, Madaen Al-Fahd, Um Al-Sulam, Al-Fadl, Northern Prince Fawaz Residential Project, Southern Prince Fawaz Residential Project, Prince Abdulmajeed Residential Project and Al-Adl.

“In the first phase of the project, the company focused on 11 neighborhoods including Al-Bawadi, Al-Faisaliyah, Al-Khaldiyah, Al-Muhammadiyah, Al-Naeem, Al-Nahdah, Al-Rabwa, Al-Rowdah, Al-Salamah, Al-Shati and Al-Zahraa,” said Al-Zahrani.
