RIYADH - Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, advisor at the Royal Court and general supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief), announced on Monday that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will contribute $70 million for the salaries of teachers in Yemen in cooperation with the United Nations and UNICEF, with each country paying half of the sum. Al-Rabeeah said in a press statement that the amount will contribute to the provision of salaries of a total of 135,000 of the teaching staff. He said this contribution is part of the great support being extended by the Saudi-led Coalition countries in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people. “Since 2015, the amount of support extended to Yemeni people reached $17 billion and it will continue to do so in future,” he said.

Meanwhile, KSRelief signed on Monday a joint cooperation agreement to rehabilitate children recruited by Houthi militias in Yemen. After signing the agreement, Dr. Al Rabeeah said that the pact is meant for implementing the seventh and eighth phases of the rehabilitation project for children recruited by the Houthi militias. -- SG/SPA
