JEDDAH —
The General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection has predicted heavy to moderate rain and strong winds with dust in some regions of the Kingdom including Jeddah over the next couple of days.

It also said the temperatures would drop in various areas of the Kingdom till Sunday.

In a bulletin issued on Tuesday, the weather agency forecast light to medium rains in coastal areas of Makkah and Madinah provinces till Friday while medium to heavy rains in upper areas of Jazan, Najran, Asir and Baha regions till Sunday.

The agency also warned of poor visibility with less than 3 kilometers in Riyadh region with dusty weather from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

From Friday to Sunday Riyadh, the Eastern Province may receive medium rain with dust storms, it said.

Meanwhile, the Civil Defense is working round the clock in rain-affected southern regions to assist people stranded by floodwaters. The Civil Defense personnel also retrieved the bodies of two children who drowned in water and an elderly man who was swept away by flash floods.

The heavy rain disrupted traffic movement on Taif highway, which is the main passage between Makkah and Riyadh.
