Saudi Gazette report

JEDDAH -
Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has ordered that the Motor Vehicle Periodic Inspection (MVPI) station in Al-Nuzha district, located south of the new King Abdulaziz International Airport in north Jeddah, be shut down.

This was following the expiry of the grace period given to relocate the station to the new industrial city in Asfan. All the remaining automobile workshops and car repair centers near the station should also be moved to Asfan.

The relocation of MVPI station and workshops is part of a plan for the beautification and development of the areas, which extend from Madinah Road in the west to Jeddah-Makkah Expressway in the east, and that lie on the frontal side of the city in the direction of the new airport.

The beautification of the area will include the establishment of parks, extension of roads, building of mosques and schools and other government facilities. The old industrial area in Al-Nuzha will be converted into a commercial and a residential district. Last year, a substitute MVPI station was opened in Kilo 10 along Jeddah -Makkah Expressway in south Jeddah.
