JEDDAH —‘The Czech Food Festival,’ was inaugurated in the DoubleTree by Hilton Riyadh Al Muroj Business Gate on Monday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the forming of the independent Czech Republic. The event will be running until Nov. 2, where visitors can experience the Czech cuisine.
Petr Pisecky, Cluster General Manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Riyadh - AlMuroj Business Gate, and Hilton Garden Inn Riyadh Olaya, explained that since Oct. 29 is the National Day of Czech Republic, the festival will introduce Czech cuisine to both the local residents in Riyadh and the guests staying at the hotel. “Two guest chefs from our sister hotel, the Hilton Prague, will be representing the Czech cuisine and its most popular dishes,” he added.
“Our team will be cooking and presenting the food specialties for the Czech cuisine. On Friday, No. 2, we will be offering the Czech brunch which will also include some activities for children, and valuable raffle prizes. The event is for the public. We want to bring a little bit of Czech Republic to all local residents and let them sample the cuisine,” he said.
Guests will have the chance to watch some videos, photos and magazines about the country and they will be able to learn a little bit about Czech and its culture.
Pisecky mentioned that plenty of the country’s traditional dishes will be served during the event to educate people about the Czech cuisine.
He added: “Among the most popular dishes are: Roasted duck with bread dumplings and red cabbage, braised beef ‘Svickova’ in cream sauce with cranberry sauce, roast beef with either dill or horseradish sauce, veal or chicken Schnitzel with potato salad.”
Czech Republic is a special destination for Saudis over the recent years because of the health spa facilities in the west of the country, neighboring Germany, that can help to heal many health issues, from skin to bones, and also respiratory or stem cells.
“Many Middle Eastern travelers, especially families, became frequent visitors to the country combining their stay between health visits and family vacation in Europe,” he said.
