JEDDAH
— Hundreds of people gathered at the main auditorium of Waad Academy here on Friday to see amazing expeditions and adventures by travelers, authors, photographers and directors from every corner of the world during a festival of mountain films.

Hosted by the Saudi Climbing Federation (SCF), the international Mountainfilm on Tour arrived in Jeddah and featured inspiring documentary films with themes of exploring cultures, preserving environments and promoting adventure.

Mountainfilm is an American documentary film festival that showcases nonfiction stories about the environmental, cultural, climbing, political and social justice issues that matters. Along with exceptional documentaries, the festival goes beyond the film medium by bringing together world-class athletes, change makers and visionary artists.

Mountainfilm travels year-round and worldwide with a selection of current and best-loved films from the festival archives.

Films showed at Waad Academy on Friday night were: Drop Everything (USA), Testing Ourselves (Spain), Surf the Line (France), Intersections (USA), Break on Through (USA), Loved by All (Nepal), A New View of the Moon (USA), Brothers of Climbing (USA), 90 Seconds of Fear (Norway), and How to Run a 100 Miles (USA). The SCF is the governing body for all aspects of Rock Climbing and Mountaineering in Saudi Arabia.

Its mission is to build and develop local capacities and skills in the field of climbing to represent Saudi Arabia in international competitions and to host national and international competitions in the Kingdom.
