Ahmad Abiri, 80, lives in a small room made out of wood in complete seclusion in Samtah, Jazan province. The Saudi octogenarian does not have a wife or children to look after him. He spends his entire day under a barn-like house which shepherds use as a shelter when it is too hot or rainy. Abiri receives SR800 every month in the form of social security aid. When he is thirsty, he goes to a nearby farm and drinks camel milk, which holds for the entire day. Despite his appalling circumstances, Abiri is optimistic that he will one day be happy and lead a normal life like others. — Okaz photo
