JAZAN — A ten-year-old Saudi died and two other Saudi children were wounded seriously as a mine, swept into the Saudi territory from the Yemeni side by the recent torrential rains, exploded here wreaking havoc. A 29-year-old Saudi woman escaped with moderate injuries in the incident, Civil Defense said.
Jazan Civil Defense Deputy Spokesman Maj. Mohammed Bin Hassan Al-Samgan said all were taken to hospital while revealing the cause of the tragic incident.
He said, on Friday (28-41440) the Civil Defense team received a report of an explosion and immediately were on the site of the incident. He added the explosion occurred when, in the province of Arda, their vehicle ran over the landmine to trigger the blast.
He said that the landmine must have been one among the many planted by the Iran-backed Houthi militia inside Yemen near the border, and swept into the Kingdom by the recent floods.
