‘Albortuqala’ singer, Alaa Saad dead

BAGHDAD
– Iraqi singer Alaa Saad known for his famous song “Albortuqala” (“Orange”) died on Wednesday at age 49 in a hospital in Baghdad. He had kidney failure and clogged arteries. Saad belonged to a family of artists and singers. His brother Waheed, who passed away a year ago, was one of the most famous singers in Iraq and performed several hit songs. Born in 1963, Alaa recorded his first song in 1983 and released his hit song “Albortuqala” in 2004. — SG
