JEDDAH — The much awaited Annual Sports Meet was held at Al Majd International School here recently with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The program began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Sultan Mohammed and Nadia Tariq of UKG A.
The Principal and Academic Director Ms. Salma Shaikh welcomed the esteemed gathering and emphasized on the importance of sports in a child’s life and also took the salute of the impressive march past of the students.
The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the sports captain Ms. Saamiya Suhail Ahmed.
An energizing equestrian display set the tone for the rest of the event. The students displayed various displays such as pom-pom drill, umbrella drill and Satin Cloth drill mesmerizing the audience with their energetic performances.
Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes.
Students of classes 1 to 4 competed in events including 400m race, relays, obstacle race and three legged race. Fun time with a staff races, coordination games and a tug- of-war between the mothers and teachers added to the enjoyment.
The best march past trophy and the overall champion trophy was awarded to the Mina house.
The games organized for the mothers saw an impressive participation. At the end of the day, students departed with a clear smile on their faces as the Mina House emerged as House Champions.
It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish. Ms. Salma Shaikh thanked all the teachers for their cooperation and support and advised children to keep up their sportsman spirit.
The first sports meet concluded with the singing of Saudi National Anthem. — SG
