AL-BAHA — The Ministry of Commerce and Investment (MCI) has defamed the owner of an automobile service center in Al-Mandaq in Al-Baha province after a court convicted him of selling outdated car tires, posing a serious risk to the safety of road users. The ministry said the man’s action was considered a clear violation of the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law.

The Criminal Court in Al-Baha imposed a fine on the man and asked the ministry to seize and destroy his stock of expired car tires. The court also ordered for the verdict to be published in two local newspapers at the expense of the businessman.

The ministry’s inspection teams discovered the outdated stock at the auto service center during a routine inspection tour in Al-Mandaq governorate. As the expired tires posed a risk to the safety of users, the inspectors confiscated the tires and referred the case to the criminal court for taking legal action against the business owner.

The ministry said it would continue its campaign against commercial fraud and take stern measures against violators to protect the consumers.
