RIYADH —
Four people died in the rains and floods that hit various parts of the Kingdom in the past one week, Al-Watan Arabic daily reported on Wednesday quoting Civil Defense sources.

The report said two of the deaths took place in Madinah and two in Tabuk.

Various governorates and municipalities have started counting the damage and loss to property resulting from the rain and floods.

The Civil Defense said they were able to rescue 154 people from the floods, evacuate 30 to safety and provide shelter to 98 others who could not live in their rain-soaked homes.

It said 111 people were rescued in Madinah, 29 in Hail, five each in Riyadh and Tabuk and two each in Jouf and Qassim.

The Civil Defense said the four deaths occurred after floodwaters washed the victims away during torrential rain.

According to the Civil Defense, 16 people were evacuated to safe locations in Tabuk, 10 in Hail and four in Riyadh.

The Civil Defense warned the citizens and expatriates not to go out for picnics or camping in the valleys and never to swim in the lakes formed by rainwater.
