JEDDAH — A Kuwaiti diplomat has reaffirmed his country’s unequivocal support to Saudi Arabia and expressed the nation’s pride in the deep-rooted relations between two countries.

Wael Yousuf Enzi, Kuwaiti consul general in Jeddah, said the relations between his country and Saudi Arabia was distinguished in many ways as their rapport, which began in historical times, continued through the era of King Abdulaziz and beyond.

“Our relations have been scaling new heights as time goes. Kuwaitis feel Kingdom is their second home and vice versa,” Enzi told Saudi Gazette on the occasion of the National Day of Kuwait.

There are seven daily flights between Kuwait and Jeddah and this speaks volumes about the people-to-people contact, he said.

The Kuwait Consulate recently celebrated the country’s 58th National Day and the 28th Liberation Day in the presence a large number of people from different walks of life.

The event was attended by Jamal Balkhoyour, director of the Foreign Ministry’s branch in Makkah region, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Al Othaimeen, Prince Turki Bin Abdullah, former minister of information Abdulaziz Khoja and many foreign diplomats based in Jeddah.

Addressing the gathering, Enzi said the relations between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia had been becoming stronger day by day from the era of King Abdulaziz to Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman. He hailed the Kingdom’s support to Kuwait in both bad and good times.

“The affection of Saudis toward their second home, Kuwait, can be gauged based on the huge gathering today,” the consul general added.

Enzi said the relations between Kuwait and the Kingdom under leadership of King Salman and Emir of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah were based on mutual respect, absolute belief in common fate, and the keenness on building bilateral ties in all fields. The visit of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, gave an opportunity to further cement the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and their peoples, he added.
