JEDDAH — A television show with a new angle and a purpose other than mere entertainment will be airing soon on Saudi Television Channel 2. The show, appropriately titled, “Not Impossible,” pays tribute to people who have successfully faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives and accomplished the impossible.
The program’s message to society is: There is no such thing as impossible.
Zeiad Mahmoud Alsufiani who prepares and presents the show searched for and discovered rare heroes who society has not heard about. Some of the guests on the show include people who achieved much despite being physically handicapped, businessmen and their rags to riches stories and people who have lived past 100 years of age.
The story of Ammar Bugis is exceptionally inspirational and he is scheduled to appear on “Not Impossible” in an upcoming episode. Ammar, now 26 years old, was fully paralyzed from birth. He schooled himself through distance learning, graduated from high school, memorized the Holy Qur’an, studied journalism and mass media at King Abdulaziz University and is now a journalist at Okaz. He also produces a TV show and has just finished writing a book.
“The disabled is not someone who has a missing limb or cannot walk or hear.
The disabled is someone whose mentality and thinking have confined him. The truly disabled is the one who lacks willpower, ambition and motivation to succeed,” said Bugis.
This show is a platform where special people like Bugis can help members of society realize their dreams. It is also a safe and welcoming place for the disabled to show society they are productive, intelligent, and an integral part of building and development of the Kingdom.
“Our Islamic beliefs actually obligate us to strive to work for the benefit of mankind, to make the Earth a better place to live, to build one’s character, and to spread goodness.
Ammar Bugis is a living example for all of us in the importance of determination, strong faith in Allah, and perseverance. Ammar did not let his wheelchair confine him; the work that he does actually requires the efforts of 3 or 4 perfectly healthy men,” said Abdullah Ali Aljameely, a retired senior training specialist.
Directed by Amina Abdulkareem, “Not Impossible” will be aired every Tuesday and is recorded in front of a live audience who are also given the opportunity to ask questions and provide their input. On the show, host Alsufiani also invites an expert in self-development and self-improvement.
