Get-together of reverts in Delhi discusses their problems

The Islamic Da’wah Center (IDC) successfully organized its 9th annual reverts get-together in the Indian capital, recently.

The event was primarily meant to felicitate the new reverts of both genders and discuss their experiences and problems. Over 60 reverts attended the program which is conducted annually, especially for them, on the first Sunday of every March to show that they are not alone.

More than 500 people, including about 100 women, attended the program.

“Revert” is the occasion of a person returning back to his natural condition at birth. The baby is born in true surrender, submission, obedience and peace with his Creator. And this is the desirable position of the Muslim, to be in peace and submission to the Will of Allah.

“Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Every child is born on the “fitrah” (natural inclination) of “Islam” (surrender, submission and peace to the Creator on His Terms). And it is their parents who raise them up to be Jews, Christians or fire worshipers.”

Special guests included Dr. Shaikh Abdur Rahman Al-Khalili from Muscat; Behjat Ayub Najmi, Jeddah; Prof. Dr. Kaleemullah Khan, Srinagar; Maulana Fakhruddin Ahmad Qasmi, Guwahati; and Dr. Mohammed Azam, Chairman, Azan International School, Hyderabad.

The special guests and some other prominent personalities attending the event were presented mementos as a token of respect and thanks by well-known personality in the field of d’awah and IDC Chairman, Dr. Mohammad Umar Gautam.

Sharing his precious thoughts, Dr. Al-Khalili stressed on the importance of peace and brotherhood. He spoke in Arabic and his speech was summarized in Urdu language by Maulana Najeebul Hasan Siddiqui Nadwi, co-chairman, IDC.

Nadwi also compered the program effectively and efficiently.

Some other notable and prominent personalities also addressed the audience and also gave blessings to the reverts. The speakers included: Maulana Azhar Nadwi from Muscat, Mufti Sagheer Ahmad Qasmi from Amroha (Uttar Pradesh), Mufti Mustajabuddin Mazahiri, Imam & Khateeb, Markaz Masjid Eidgah, Faridabad (Haryana) and Dr. Syed Farooq, Chaiman, Himalaya Drugs, Dehradun (Uttrakhand).

Behjat Najmi from Jeddah, who was the chief guest at the event, said he was moved by the sentiments expressed by the reverts.

He said it is the collective duty of all Muslims to help their revert brothers and their families in overcoming the many challenges facing them.

On behalf of Maulana Hifzur Rehman Academy Haji Ayub Seoharvi Academy Najmi distributed many gifts — prayer mats, copies of the Holy Qur’an, perfume bottles and a small-size hand bag – to all revert brothers and sisters.

The program ended on a high note with special dua by renowned scholar Maulana Shah Qadri Syed Mustafa Refai Jelani Nadwi from Bangaluru (Karnataka), for peace and brotherhood among the people of all faiths around the globe.
