Career day aims to bridge gap between academia, industry

JEDDAH — Under the patronage of Princess Lolowah Al-Faisal, Effat University recently organized its 18th Career Day under the title: “Bridging the Gap Between Academia and New Saudi Industry: Avenues for the Future” in Effat University’s Library and Cultural Museum.

Effat University organizes the annual career day to help the students get jobs and internships and open doors for future opportunities.

The program included a speech and a session by Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, chairman of KSA’s General Sport Authority, and Yasser Faisal Al-Sharif, CEO of Jabal Omar Development Company.

In the opening ceremony, Dr. Malak Abu Nar, dean of students affairs at Effat University, said: “Effat University by organizing its 18th annual Career Day aims to give the youth of the Kingdom the knowledge and skills necessary to enable them become active members of the work force to go in line with the Kingdom’s vision toward a vibrant society and an ambitious nation.”

She added: “Our sincerest hopes that they have received the maximum benefit from the expertise of our distinguished speakers, and the workshops offered to them to reach their ultimate career goals”.

The exhibition started at 10 in the morning and continued to open until 7 p.m.

It hosted some 20 companies and institutions offering more than 200 jobs.

The Career Day offered workshops on “How to get a job”, “How to improve your LinkedIn page”, “Write your future career”, and “Laws of Saudi Labor law for private sector” during the two days. — SG
