King Salman, Tunisian president hold talks, oversee signing of two deals & confer medals

TUNIS — The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi held a meeting at Carthage Palace here Friday, Saudi Press Agency said.

During a bilateral audience, relations binding the two countries were reviewed. Then wide-range official talks were held, in the presence of the delegations of the two countries.

The two sides reviewed the prospects of bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Tunisia, in various fields, means of enhancing and developing them and reviewing regional and international developments.

The official talks session was attended by Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif, minister of interior; Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban, minister of state and Cabinet member; Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf, minister of foreign affairs; Dr. Majed Al-Qassabi, minister of commerce and investment; Muhammad Al-Jadaan, minister of finance; Turki Bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah, minister of media; Ahmed Bin Abdulaziz Qattan, minister of state for African countries’ affairs and Muhammad Bin Mahmoud Al-Ali, Saudi ambassador to Tunisia and members of the Tunisian delegation.

Then, King Salman and President Essebsi oversaw the signing of two agreements between the governments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Tunisia at Carthage Palace.

The first agreement was for a development loan for protecting cities and urban areas from floods, while the second was for financing Saudi exports in favor of the Tunisian Company for Refinery Industries.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ibrahim Bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf and Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs Khemaies Jhinaoui signed the agreements.

After that the Tunisian President conferred the highest medal of the Republic of Tunisia to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. Meanwhile, the Monarch conferred the King Abdulaziz Order to the Tunisian President.

Earlier in the day, the President of Tunisia received King Salman at the airport on arrival Thursday. — SPA
