Saudi Gazette report

MADINAH —
A Saudi citizen has held the Yanbu General Hospital responsible for the deterioration of his daughter›s condition and said due to negligence of the emergency ward of the hospital the girl has become a comatose.

Mubarak Hamid Al-Hafzi told local daily Al-Watan that his 15-year-old daughter Taif was taken to the hospital early March complaining of high fever but she was made to wait for six hours before a doctor had seen her.

He asked the management of the hospital to transfer her to a specialist hospital where she could get advanced treatment.

The Department of Health Affairs in Madinah said the girl was suspected of having meningitis and was provided with the required care for such cases but the father refuted this claim and vowed to take his complaint up with the authorities.

Hafzi said the emergency doctors were late in examining his daughter, who was given a solution but half an hour later her heart stopped and they had to resuscitate her.

«After this my daughter lost consciousness and entered into a coma, from which she did not come out until now,» he said.

The father said the CT scan images showed that the state of his daughter›s health was not serious before she was given the medicine in the emergency ward.

He said the girl›s brain was damaged and asked the health affairs to save her life by sending her for treatment anywhere in the world.
