TAIF — A teacher in an intermediate school in Taif is being investigated for taking his students to a place for washing the dead to show them practically how the bodies are washed and wrapped for burial.
Awwad Al-Khidaidi, spokesman for the department of education in Taif, said the Ministry of Education ordered an investigation into the incident and a reported to be submitted immediately so that appropriate measures can be taken against the teacher.
Informed sources in Taif did not identify the teacher but said he was a nominee for a prize of excellence.
A number of parents came to the support of the teacher saying he was practically explaining a lesson, which is in the school curriculum.
They said the teacher was practically demonstrating the activities in the curriculum as prescribed by the ministry.
Other parents said the students were too young to witness to the process of washing the dead.
The sources said the ministry ordered an investigation because the students were too young to be watching the washing of dead bodies.
They admitted that the lesson on the washing of the dead was part of the curriculum.
